    What is the fundraising goal?

The fundraising goal for the Lehua Matching Challenge Grant is $150,000.

What is the length of the campaign?

The campaign will run from January 1 to December 31, 2011.

    What counts towards the goal?

  • A majority of the funds raised must come from in-person, direct solicitations of prospects.
  • Funds must be restricted to the Lehuaproject.
  • A maximum pledge period of two years will be allowed (i.e. from the date the pledge is made until it is paid in full).

What is the total project cost?

$1.25 million. Over the past four years, Kāhi Mōhala has worked diligently to secure two CDBG grants administered by the City & County of Honolulu, for the planning, design, permitting, and renovation of Lehua. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2011.

So far, $1.1 million in capital funding has been approved for Phase I and Phase II Lehua renovations from Federal CDBG grants through the City & Country of Honolulu. While Kāhi Mōhala has been very fortunate to secure these two grants, federal funds have restrictions that do not cover all project expenses.

Raising $75,000 from the Board of Trustees, hospital staff, foundations, businesses and community friends by December 31, 2011 is our goal in order to leverage the $75,000 Sutter Matching Grant Challenge for a total of $150,000.

What is the Sutter Health Capital Challenge Matching Grant?

  • Initiated in 2008, this program provides Sutter affiliates with capital funds via a challenge grant that can only be received if the affiliate meets a specific fundraising goal within a specified period of time.

  • Kāhi Mōhala has been approved for a $75,000 Challenge Grant to fund Lehua renovations. This is our 2nd Challenge Matching Grant!

  • This was a highly competitive process with only 18 applications approved.

What is the measure of success?

  • If Kāhi Mōhala meets the fundraising goal by 12-31-11, it will receive a dollar-for-dollar matching grant in Q2 2012.

  • If Kāhi Mōhala does not meet its fundraising goal, it will not receive any matching grant dollars.
